Wold, Burdette 'Andy' O.
Burdette “Andy” O. Wold, 94, of Monona, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Monona, with the Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home in Monona and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Andy was born Nov. 21, 1916, in rural St. Olaf, Iowa, to Andrew and Nellie (Nelson) Wold. He attended Elkader High School and graduated from Farmersburg High School in 1935. He was united in marriage to Helen (Bernhard) Wold on June 25, 1941. Andy worked at the St. Olaf Hatchery and started the Monona Dairy and the house-to-house milk delivery, which he ran for 39 years.
Andy enjoyed playing baseball for the Monona Town team and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and talking dairy farming and cattle to anyone who would listen.
He will be truly missed but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 70 years; sons, Richard (Elizabeth) Wold of Maquoketa and Mark (Sue) of Robins; five grandchildren, Mike (Tammy) Wold of Decorah, Teresa Wold of Orlando, Fla., Andy (Angi) Wold of Parker, Colo., Drew Wold of Washington, D.C., and Amy Wold of Denver, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren, T.J., Brady, Chandler, Anais, Emma, Tyrus and Vienne; a niece, Sandra (Tom) Lawrence of Solon; a nephew, Dean (Carla) Barnum of South Bend, Ind.; and two great-nieces.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald; and a sister, Arleta Wold Barnum.
Leonard Funeral Home of Monona is in charge of arrangements.
