Choplick Sr., Andrew 'Andy' J.
Andrew “Andy” J. Choplick Sr., 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center. Memorial services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. David V. Miller. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
He is survived by his wife, Rose, and her daughters, Janet (Douglas) Leonhart and Sandy (Dennis) Bruns of Cedar Rapids; sons, Andrien (Barb) of Denton, Texas, Aaron (Janet) of Cedar Rapids and Drew (Iris) of Waverly; stepson, Lloyd Hasson of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Cinkan of Waterloo; several grandchildren; and sister, Elaine Choplick.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Andrew was born July 13, 1931, in Masontown, Pa., the son of Andrew and Katheryn Choplick. He married Rose Mary Hopp on May 30, 1987, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Andy retired after driving truck for several companies throughout the Cedar Rapids area and after retirement worked as a greeter for Walmart.
Andy liked to take his wife dancing every Saturday night and for long weekend afternoon drives. He enjoyed surrounding himself with all types of people and enjoyed his conversations with everyone. Most of all Andy was known for his smile that could light up a room.
