Smith, Phyllis J.
UPDATED:
Phyllis J. Smith, 67, of West Union, formerly of Walker, died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center from an extended illness. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home in West Union, where friends may call from 5 to 7 tonight. Burial will be at a later date in Grandview Cemetery, Fayette.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley G.; children, Robin (Rick) Amfahr of Independence, Cathi (Radell) Robertson of Mediapolis, Bill Smith of Aurora and Shawn (Kristi) Smith of Masonville; two brothers, John (Pat) Miller and Robert (JoAnne) Miller, both of Marion; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Phyllis was born Sept. 30, 1941, in Edgewood to William “Jack” and June Miller. She married Stanley Smith on Sept. 3, 1961, at Trinity Methodist Church, Edgewood. Phyllis retired from AEGON USA with 25 years of service in the financial markets division. She enjoyed her family, reading, gardening, the holidays and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
A memorial has been established in Phyllis's name.
