Monona
Robert J. "Smitty" Smith, 79, of Monona, died Saturday morning, Oct. 8, 2016, at Winneshiek Medical Center, Decorah, from complications of diabetes.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys (Hackbarth) Smith; one son, David (Anna Mae) Smith of Monona; one daughter, Nancy (Arthur) Wagner of Castalia; and four grandchildren, Tyler Wagner, Grant Wagner, Isaac Wagner and Ashley Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home, Monona, and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Monona, with the Rev. Lewis Flanigan as officiant. Interment will follow at Monona Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, memorials in Smitty's honor may be made to the Monona Fire Department and/or MFL Ambulance Service.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, is helping the family with the arrangements.
