There is some big things happening to kick off the bowling season for the Cedar Rapids USBC Bowling Association.
First is CRUSBCBA Hall of Fame induction and luncheon Sunday at the Marion American Legion. It will start 11:30 a.m. with a social gathering. Lunch is served at noon. Tickets can be purchased from any Hall of Fame committee member - Kim Grady, Danny Jensen, Sue Strasburger, Andrea Ard, Jim Wheeler, Bob Mumma, Jackie Mundorf, Michael Jordan, Cindi Tippett and Lane Lafler.
The senior tournament (age 50 and above for men and women) will be held Nov. 5-6 and 12-13 at the Cedar Rapids Bowling Center.
The Association City Tournament is scheduled for Jan. 7 through Feb. 4, 2017. Doubles and singles will be held at Berry's Lanes in Vinton and the team event will be held at Lancer Lanes. Applications will be available at www.cedarrapidsbowling.com or at all bowling centers soon. Mundorf (association manager) or Jerry Robinson (association president) will be the taking completed applications.
The big item to keep in mind is the 101st annual State Open Bowling Tournament, hosted by the CRUSBCBA in 2018. So get your teams ready and your reservations in as you sign up for the 2017 open tournament in Davenport. The Cedar Rapids association is hoping to set a record for the most teams, singles and doubles competing from any association in 2018.
