Demand climate action from Iowa’s senators

Flooding now just seems to be part of life in Iowa. The only question each year is which areas will get hit the hardest. These floods cause terrible harm to real Iowans. It's not an accident that we now get 500-year floods every year or two. It's because of climate change.
The fact that this paper even prints letters from climate deniers is very disappointing. Would they print letters that claimed the earth isn't round? That would make as much sense. The only folks who can't see what's happening with our climate are those who are unduly influenced by fossil fuel money or propaganda.
On March 6, Sen. Joni Ernst stood on the Senate floor and decried the shortcomings of the Green New Deal. Instead of acknowledging the real threat of climate change to Iowans and agriculture, she demonstrated once again that she is beholden to her party and her donors like the Koch brothers.
It is very important for the future of Iowa that both of our senators understand that climate change is real, and that they agree to become part of the solution and not part of the problem. Flooding exacerbated by climate change will keep hurting Iowans, unless we change our policies and our habits.
Call Ernst and tell her how you feel about the Green New Deal. And, please, only vote for folks who understand that climate change is real.
