Robert Hintz Jr., 72, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at home. Private family services will
be held at a later date.
Bob was born Sept. 11,
1944, in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Robert A.E. and Marjorie Klinkerman Hintz Sr. He received his master's and doctorate degrees from the University of Iowa, then taught sociology at the university level before becoming a family counselor. He worked for Foundation 2 in Cedar Rapids for 27 years before attempting retirement. He resumed working until his death. Bob always provided an element of calm.
In 1968, Bob was united in marriage with Patricia Murray. They later divorced. He married Barbara Jones Farmer in 1989 in Vinton.
Robert is survived by his wife of 27 years, Barb of Vinton; three children, Aaron (Amanda) Hintz of Huntsville, N.C., Johnathan Hintz of Charlotte, N.C., and Timothy (Amy) Hintz of Des Moines; one grandchild with two siblings on the way; three bonus children, Matthew (Angie Floyd) Farmer of Shellsburg, Sarah (Troy) Lightfield of Rosemount, Minn., and Rebecca (William) Partridge of Owatonna, Minn.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beth (Harry) Search of Falls Church, Va..
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bonnie Wehking.
