Reeves, Ruth 'Marilyn'
Ruth “Marilyn” Reeves, 85, passed away at Urbandale Health Care Center on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Marilyn was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Des Moines, to Herb and Ada (Schoenfeld) Broad. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines. Marilyn was united in marriage to Elten “Al” Reeves on Nov. 27, 1947, in the Reeves family home. Marilyn's work career included multiple insurance jobs in Des Moines, dental office manager for Dr. Phil Vesey and dining hostess at Meth Wick-Manor, both in Cedar Rapids. Marilyn loved her family and friends and enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, reading, bingo and shopping.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Elten “Al” Reeves, Windsor Heights; daughter, Sharon K. Reeves, Cedar Rapids; brother, Gerald Broad, Del Mar, Calif. and his family; and cousin, David (Carole) Roemer.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Marilyn's family would like to thank special friends, Char Rundall and Karen Talbott; neighbor, Brian Dunker and Barb Fatino and Benton McClaran of hospice for all of their love and support.
