Marilyn Miller, 84, died Friday, March 25, 2016, at her home. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Burial will be in Koszta Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be contributed to Iowa County 4-H Foundation, Oaklawn Church of God, UnityPoint Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Herbert; her children, David (Jacquie) Miller of Marengo, Susan (Mark) Fischer of Ankeny, Jim (Luanne) Miller of Ely and Leane (Alan) Gustafson of Lakefield, Minn.; her grandchildren, Deanne (Dan) Mattox of Holton, Kan., Dana (Michael) Cook of North Liberty, Daniel Miller of Marengo, Erika and Bradley Gustafson of Lakefield and Justin and Jacob Fischer of Ankeny; and her great-grandchildren, Evelyn Mattox of Holton, Kan., and Michael James Cook of North Liberty. Also surviving are a sister, Lois Hamann of Keystone; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Cronbaugh of Marengo.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Cecil and Merle Cronbaugh and four in infancy; and four sisters, Norma Slaymaker, Doris Danskin, Evelyn Schmidt and Esther Fitzgibbon.
Marilyn Cronbaugh was born Nov. 17, 1931, in rural Honey Creek Township, rural Marengo, the daughter of Clifford C. and Margery Hay Cronbaugh. Marilyn attended Honey Creek No. 10 School and graduated from Marengo High School in 1950. Following graduation, she was employed with the Iowa County Extension Service. Marilyn and Herbert N. Miller were married Feb. 17, 1952. He was serving in the U.S. Navy and the couple moved to San Diego, where she worked with Reynolds Metals Co. When Herbert was discharged from the service, the couple returned to Iowa and they made their livelihood in farming.
Marilyn returned to employment with the Extension Service, retiring in December 1993. She continued to work as a volunteer of 4-H for 18 years. Marilyn served as a leader for 10 years, chairwoman of the Iowa County 4-H Foundation for 10 years and, in 2002, was inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame.
Marilyn was a member of Oaklawn Church of God in rural Marengo.
