Marilyn Pauline Reed, 93, of Marion, passed away Oct. 6, 2017 at The Villages of Marion.
She is survived by her children, Kim (Laura) Reed of Cedar Rapids and Joni Reed (Bill) Cooley of Marion; grandsons, Jesse Reed of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Dakota Reed of Peoria, Ill.; brother, Gene Harrington of Cedar Falls; sister, Diane (Ron) Christensen of Jacksonville Fla.; and her beloved corgi/beagle companion, Bella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Viola Harrington; husband, Donald V. Reed; sister, Joan (Don) Dunlap; and sister-in-law, Marty (Gene) Harrington.
Marilyn Pauline Harrington was born May 21, 1924, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to proud parents Eugene and Viola (Maisell) Harrington. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1942. On Nov. 23, 1945, in Cedar Falls, she married her great love, Don "Sarie" Reed of Boone.
Marilyn devoted her life to caring for her husband, children, pets and home. She and Sarie enjoyed watching sports and taking trips to visit family and friends across the country and Australia. In later years, after Sarie's death in 1999, her wonderful dog Bella brought her great joy and was her constant companion. Marilyn's sweet and positive spirit will be missed by many.
The family wishes to thank the kind staff at The Villages for their compassionate care Marilyn and her special dog, Bella.
Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Per Marilyn's wishes, private graveside services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
