Marilyn Janet Ross Holman, 86, of Danville, Ky., fomerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015, in Danville.
Born Feb. 27, 1929, in Buchanan County, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Alice Graham Ross. Marilyn was a retired educator and guidance counselor with the Cedar Rapids school system. She was a 1947 graduate of Epworth High School and a 1952 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, receiving a bachelor's degree in elementary education. In 1956, she received her master's degree in education and school psychology from the University of Iowa and in 1966, she received her counseling certificate from the University of Iowa. She completed additional courses in 1970.
Marilyn's survivors include one daughter, Dr. Kimberly Swanson (Dan Franks) of Clearwater. Fla.; one son, Kurt (Dawn) Holman of Perryville, Ky.; and one grandson, Matthew Holman of Perryville, Ky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Roy Albert and Merle Vemon "Bud" Ross.
Marilyn's cremains will be buried with her father in Dubuque County, Iowa, at a later date.
