ALAN LOUIS MRAZEK
Ely
Alan Louis Mrazek, 62, of Ely, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, with his family by his side in the comfort of his own home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer for the second time. He fought very long and hard for life after receiving a stem cell transplant from his son Tony. Friends may join us for a Celebration of Life gathering from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at Fat Wally's at 429 Second Ave. SE, where pictures, stories and good times will be shared. The family requests casual dress attire in honor of Alan. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Alan was born July 26, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Anton and Teresa (Fisher) Mrazek. Alan was united in marriage to Jill Luedtke on Dec. 17, 1988, in Cedar Rapids. He worked for King's Ready Mix as a cement truck driver for more than 21 years, retiring in 2011. Alan greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and granddaughter. In the months prior to a stem cell transplant at the University of Iowa, he worked with his son on many projects and vehicles. He took great pride in maintaining and landscaping his property. His hobbies included indulging in various sweets and talking on the phone with his friends. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and morel hunting with his children.
Alan is survived by his wife, Jill; his children, Samantha and Tony; his granddaughter, Aubrey; and a half-brother, Gary.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family requests no floral arrangements or plants. Donations may be made to the memorial fund for the family.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Ghosh and his staff for their special care for Alan.
