Mills, Agnes V. 'Babe'
Agnes V. “Babe” Mills, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died at St. Luke's Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel with service following at 11 a.m. Pastor Doug Cue of Sharon Center United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her niece, Betty Kemp of Iowa City; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and stepchildren, Roland, Roxanne, Nancy, Jeffrey, Paul, and Russell Mills and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sisters, a brother, a niece, and two nephews.
Agnes was born April 10, 1919, in Newport, Iowa, to Anton and Mary Vrana. She married Paul West on April 6, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1986. She married Jim Mills on June 27, 1992, in Milton. He died in 2009. Agnes was a secretary for the Cedar Rapids Community School District, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and camping. She liked to play bingo and was an avid Cubs fan.
Agnes was an inspiration to all whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Mercy.
