Vivian Bernice Infield, 92, of Troy Mills, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 7, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Memorial services, noon Saturday at the funeral home, by the Rev. Chris Richards. On Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, at 3 p.m., the family will honor Vivian with her inurnment at Troy Mills Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Jane (Keith) Beresford of Cedar Rapids and Joetta (Bruce) Klendworth of Troy Mills; daughter-in-law, Norma Cress of Troy Mills; stepson, Ed (Phyllis) Infield of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; stepdaughter-in-law, Kristian Infield of Cassville, Wis.; stepson-in-law, Archie Vesperman of Lancaster, Wis.; one sister, Byrdena Williams; and numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Carl Cress and Edward Infield, son, Howard Cress; brother, Leland Ramsey; stepdaughter, Marsha Vesperman, stepson, Ron Infield; and stepgrandson, Todd Infield.
Vivian was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Troy Mills, to Howard and Hilda (Elliott) Ramsey. After graduating from Troy Mills High School, she married Carl Cress in Center Point in 1942. He passed away in 1974. Vivian then married Edward Infield in 1978, and he passed away in 2001.
She was employed at Wilson's Grocery Store in Troy Mills and later at the school in Troy Mills as a cook. Vivian then was a secretary for the superintendent at North Linn Community School District.
She was a longtime member of the Troy Mills Christian Church. She was an exceptional seamstress, and thoroughly enjoyed making and giving away ceramics. Vivian loved making crafts and volunteering for the Troy Mills Christian Church, but her greatest love of all was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
The family would like to wish their most sincere thanks to Dr. Mary Anne Nelson, staff at the Hiawatha Care Center, St. Luke's ICU and St. Luke's Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Vivian.
