BECKY ANDERSON
Cedar Rapids
Becky Anderson passed away Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, in Cedar Rapids at age 65 after a courageous battle with cancer. The family will host a visitation Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and a ceremony in her memory will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
Becky Sue Anderson was born to Bob and Peg Reed in Estherville, Iowa, on Feb. 17, 1949. After growing up in Ringsted, Becky graduated with a degree in dental hygiene from the University of Iowa.
Becky spent a great portion of her life in the Cedar Rapids area and most of her career as a dental hygienist for the Dental Center in Cedar Rapids. She met her future husband, Norm, in the 1970s, when she was his dental hygienist. The couple married in 1984 and enjoyed 28 years together, taking family trips with their children and grandchildren.
Avid golfers, Norm and Becky hosted the annual Anderson Invitational at St. Andrews Golf Club for 25 years. Becky also enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and attending Theatre Cedar Rapids and the Cedar Rapids Washington High School Performing Arts.
Becky was preceded in death by her husband, Norm.
She is survived by her children, Jared of Cedar Rapids, Lindsay and Kevin of Cedar Rapids, Brian and Jodi of Indianola and Brent and Christine of Dallas. Becky was the proud grandparent of Denzell, Darian, Abby, Zach, Alijah and Leighton. In addition, she is survived by her parents, Bob and Peg Reed; her sister, Sally Underwood; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and her Goldendoodle, Hinkel.
In lieu of flowers, Becky's wish was to have donations made to Theatre Cedar Rapids or the Cedar Rapids Washington High School Performing Arts.
