Kanellis, Michael Anthony
Michael Anthony Kanellis, 95, of Marion, died Wednesday, April 16, 2013, at Willow Gardens Care Center. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St Matthew's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, where a visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his brother, Petter Kanellis of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Fern Kanellis of Cedar Rapids; and a nephew, Michael Kanellis of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jeanette Dyerte; and a brother, George Kanellis.
Michael was born April 1, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Nick and Bessie Kanellis. He was employed at Lapes Florist in Cedar Rapids and was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II, stationed in England for bombing in Germany.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and was always interested in aviation and airplanes.
