George D. "Butch" Frondle, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Frondle of Cedar Rapids; five children, Eric Cryder, Robert, John and Michael Frondle and Cheri Kach, all of Cedar Rapids; two stepdaughters, Michelle (Leroy) Hatfield of Brandon, Fla., and Marcia (Scott) Goodell of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and four sisters, Karen (Larry) Brown, Judy Hoover, Anna Marie (Kevin) Harder, all of Cedar Rapids, and Carol (Scott) Christiansen of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James and infant Joseph Frondle; and stepson, Larry Kelchen Jr.
George was born March 29, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, son of George Frank and Nellie Eleanor (Wharton) Frondle. He attended school in Cedar Rapids. George was in the United States Navy in 1957. He drove for Western Transportation then was an electrician and a millwright. He then owned and operated General Repair Service and Trucking Company. On April 28, 1977, he married Sharon Kelchen in
Cedar Rapids.
He enjoyed playing guitar in local country western bands, fishing, riding his Harley and going to the Casino. George was a union member for the Local Electricians and Millwrights Union and was a past member of the Bass Masters.
