Fred Jackson, Coe College, NFL running back of note
Mike Hlas Sep. 14, 2009 9:23 pm
The way the Buffalo Bills choked away a 24-13 lead and lost 25-24 to the New England Patriots Monday night was disgusting to Buffalonians, but it wasn't Fred Jackson's fault.
The former Coe College running back did the Kohawks proud, rushing 15 times for 57 yards and catching five passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.
That, folks, is mighty good for someone who was playing low-level arena football four years ago in Sioux City.
Division III players who make it to the NFL are rare enough. To do it with a few years' gap between college and breaking into The League is rarer, and to do it with a stop in the National Indoor Football League (and then on to now-defunct NFL Europe) is too far-fetched even for wild dreamers.
What a story.
