Milo Charles Zahradnik, 98, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on May 28, 2016. Celebration of life services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, where full military rites will be conducted following the service. Visitation will be one hour before services Sunday. Burial will be in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely.
Milo was born June 8, 1917, in Ely, the son of Joseph and Frances (Nemecek) Zahradnik. Milo served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was united in marriage to Mildred Kulhavy on Sept. 2, 1950, at First Presbyterian Church near Ely.
Milo farmed and worked for Linn County Roads and Hupp Electric Motors until his retirement.
Milo is survived by his daughters, Carol Romano of Cedar Rapids and Jane Dyches (Steve) of Huntington Beach, Calif.; five grandchildren, Andrew (Holly) Hines, Jordan, Pamela, Michael and Kristen; six great-grandchildren, Kayne, Joshua, Aidan, Mason, Evelynn and Maverick; a sister-in-law, Viola Zahradnik of Ely; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Milo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred, who died July 11, 2004; and his siblings, Frank (Jessie), Bill (Clara), Lumir Zahradnik, Agnes (Delbert) Smith and Martha (George) Chaloupka.
