Mary Ellen Cross, 67, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Anamosa, with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. The Rev. Father Scott Boone and Deacon Fred Cornwall will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
Surviving are two children, Tim (Shelley Canady) Cross and Kim Cross, both of Anamosa; a brother, Ed Davidson, Cedar Rapids; a sister, Marjorie Eige, Glen Carbon, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Mary Davidson, Marion; and a brother-in-law, Fred Cornwall, Ankeny.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; and three siblings, Dan Davidson, Sally Wolfe and Patricia Cornwall.
Mary Ellen Davidson was born June 9, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Fannie Holmes Davidson. Mary Ellen graduated from LaSalle High School in 1968. She worked at Mercy Hospital as a nursing assistant. Mary Ellen and James Cross were married at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids on Aug. 23, 1975. The couple lived in Anamosa, where Mary Ellen worked for Advancement Services in Jones County. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
