Roy Allard, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died July 3, 2018. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran church by the Rev. David Renfro. Burial is at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. and after 9 a.m. at the church.
Roy was born Aug. 26, 1929, the son of George and Lyda Allard. He married the love of his life, Loretta Marie Snyder, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids on Sept. 15, 1952. Roy was employed by FMC and retired in 1984. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Roy was active in Cedar Rapids Kid League Baseball as a board member and coach. He loved to watch kids develop into good baseball players and young men. In 1997, he was inducted into the Cedar Rapids Softball Hall of Fame.
Survivors include two children, Rhonda (Dan) Allard Hamill of Indianola, Iowa, and Mike (Chris) Allard of Plymouth, Minn.; five grandchildren, Pastor Andrew (Allison) McGowan, Aaron (Rhiannon) McGowan, Amy (Kyle) Shock, Tara Allard and Jenna (Juston) Sanger; and eight great-grandchildren, Elias, Loretta, Graham, Rigby, Amariah and Ramsey McGowan and Madelynn and Miles Schock.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; parents, George and Lyda; his sister, Betty; and brothers, Ron, twin brother, Ray, and Bob.
We would like to thank The Village of Indianola, Iowa, and Wesley Life for all of their loving care and companionship. We also would like to thank Pastor David Renfro and Pastor Joel Andrus for their loving support that they have provided Roy over the past several years.
Memorials may be made to The Village Good Shepard Fund.
