Letter: Vote Rod Sullivan for Johnson Supervisor

May. 21, 2016 1:00 am
Incumbent Johnson County Supervisor Rod Sullivan stands out as the best candidate in the June 7 primary election.
His list of accomplishments as a supervisor is long and impressive. However, his exemplary support for conservation and protection of the natural environment is without peer in the entire state. He conceived the idea of a $20 million conservation bond issue, which he presented to the Johnson County Conservation Board in 2007. The conservation board enthusiastically embraced that revolutionary idea, which was approved by 61 percent of Johnson County voters in 2008. Thanks to his visionary leadership, the Johnson County Conservation Board is utilizing these special funds to acquire and develop lands for public access; to protect water quality in rivers, lakes and streams; to protect dwindling forests and natural areas for wildlife habitat; and to provide for parks and the development of an extensive system of trails for this and future generations.
Join me in voting for Sullivan to assure the continuation of his unparalleled efforts as a champion of conservation and the natural environment.
