A tale of a blogger who has changed the way U. of Michigan sports are followed
Mike Hlas Sep. 1, 2009 7:38 pm
This is a Michigan Daily story about mgoblog.com founder/operator Brian Cook, but it's much more than that.
It's a story about how the tides have turned in covering sports in print. For me, it's a stark reminder that if we in newspapering don't widen our media horizons and expand our coverage in a hurry, we'll be opening acts for Milli Vanilli in cruise ship lounges.
I don't know what that last line means, but it can't be good.
Anyway, if you have a few minutes, read this story about the enterprising young Cook and his thoughts on why more people read his blog than any other Web site that purports to cover Michigan sports. Then, if you wish, comment on the parts you found most interesting or signifcant.
