Petersen, Lucille E.
Lucille E. Petersen, 89, of Cedar Rapids, previously of Thomson, Ill., died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, Ill. A graveside service will follow at St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Savanna.
Lucille was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Charlotte, Iowa, the daughter of Adolph “Otto” and Lillian (Christensen) Rannfeldt. She was a graduate of Clinton High School with the class of 1942. She married Ernest Petersen on July 18, 1948, in Clinton. During World War II, Lucille worked for DuPont. She also worked at Pamida in Savanna, Ill., for five years and spent many years as a homemaker.
Lucille was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Savanna, as well as First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids.
She loved to care for her kitties, feed the birds and tend to her garden.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Corenne (Mark) Liabo of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Nelson of Montana; and a brother, Richard Hendrick of Beebe, Ark.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be given to First Congregational UCC, Cedar Rapids, or St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Savanna.
