Celebration of Life: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by his brother-in-law, Al Lyon. Survivors include his wife, Dori; his children, Kris Brody of Hiawatha and Jon Harris of Chelsea; granddaughter, Ashley Cach of Hiawatha; great-grandson, Nate Cach; sister, Joan Garringer of Fort Worth, Texas; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Simon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Arnold.
Bob was born Jan. 12, 1936, the son of Roy and Lorna (Reed) Harris, in North English, Iowa. He graduated from North English High School. Bob served with the United States Army during the Korean conflict. After returning from the service, he went to barber college and opened a barber shop in North English, where many stories came from that "barber chair." Bob married Dori Price in 1963. In 1963, he went to work at Josef's Hairstyling and became part owner with Dori until he retired in 2005.
His greatest hobbies were visiting with people, fishing, hunting and most of all, being with family.
Bob was a very active member of VFW Post 788 and a member of the VFW Elite Color Guard, which was especially close to Bob's heart. He also was a member of 40/8, having served as grand chef. On May 15, 2015, Bob went on the Honor Flight of which he described as his "best trip ever."
A special thanks goes to his great friends, Sheri and Gene Peterson, and to St. Luke's Hospice.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Bob.
