Alberta Hopf Gates, 88, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Buchanan County Health Center in
Independence. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Church of Christ United in Winthrop. Burial: Wilson Cemetery, east of Independence. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop, with an Eastern Star service at 5 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Survivors include her three daughters, Nancy (Bob) Gates-Lee of Lighthouse, Fla., Darcy (Jim) Fangman of St. Genevieve, Mo., and Tracy Reed of Marion; three stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George; and her sister, Shirley Braden.
