NORMA JEAN NILLES (FLORANG)

Norma Jean Nilles (Florang), 87, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
She was born in North English, Iowa, in 1931 to Blanche Weimer and Leo Florang, who both died before she was 3 years old. After living with several aunts and uncles, Norma Jean graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids and then Mount Mercy College in 1952 as an RN. That same year she married Louis J. Nilles Jr.
She is greatly loved and missed by their six children, Steve (Dolores), Jane (Patrick DeShazo), Tom (Charisse), Jim (Martha), Bill and Matt; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; her brother, Don (Bev) Florang; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Monica) Nilles and John F. McAreavy; sister-in-law, Carol Nilles (Robert Engler); and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother Eugene "Jim" Florang and his wife, Lee; former husband Lou Nilles; and sister-in-law, Joan Nilles McAreavy.
A memorial service will be held at Century Memorial Chapel in Naperville, Ill., on Aug. 11, 2018, at 12:30 p.m.
