Petersen, Faynola
Faynola Petersen, 83, a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center, died there Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009. Graveside services: 11 a.m. Friday, Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Randy Kasch of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include two sons, Brian L. Petersen and wife Lynette of North Liberty, and Lynn E. Petersen and wife Nancy of Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Taylor Petersen of Cedar Rapids; and a grandson, Nathanial Petersen and a granddaughter, Danielle Petersen, both of North Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Petersen; a son, David Petersen; a brother, Benjamin; two sisters, Ethel and Hazel; a nephew, Paul; and brothers-in-law, Melvin and Alfred.
Faynola was born April 16, 1926, in Coleburg, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Elva Haught Lorton. She married Louis C. Petersen on Sept. 2, 1947, in Wyoming, Iowa.
Faynola was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved sports and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Cedar Rapids Kernels and Chicago Cubs.
Faynola enjoyed the activities at the Hiawatha Care Center. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
