Glen F. "Bud" Gahring, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Services are 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at First Congregational Church, Belle Plaine, with Pastor Kate West officiating. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hrabak Funeral Service and will continue at the church one hour before the service. Burial will take place at Genoa Bluffs Cemetery, Ladora. Military rites will be provided by the Belle Plaine American Legion.

Glen was born in Ladora, Iowa, to Jacob and Mabel Gahring. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy.
With his family, Bud lived on different military bases and naval ships. Following his retirement from the Navy, he moved to Oregon where he worked as a carpenter. It was about 10 years ago when he made his way back to Belle Plaine to be closer to family and friends.
He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 0039, Veterans of Foreign War, United States Uniformed Services and Fraternal Order of Elks,
Survivors include his stepchildren, Janis Ferrara, Jannine (Bill) Barr and Timothy W. Kerry, all of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews
Preceding him in death were his parents; two wives, Dot and Dodie; three brothers; and a sister.
