Letter: Dale Todd brings experience to the table

Cedar Rapids will benefit from having Dale Todd on the City Council. He is well read and a source of ideas: He sees what works in other communities and he sparks change based on what he has learned. And, in the years I have known him, I have learned from him as well.
He has long championed improvement of Cedar Lake, but his more recent advocacy of developing the Sleeping Giant pedestrian bridge near the former Wilson meatpacking plant - and a trail between the bridge and the lake - take the project to a new level by heightening livability factors downtown and in the New Bo area. This, in turn, will help accelerate the metro area's growth.
Solid experience as parks commissioner under the previous form of government, continuing involvement in redevelopment in the Wellington Heights and New Bo areas, and his post as regional director of development with the Hatch Development Group add to the depth and breadth of experience Todd brings to the table.
But the best thing he brings is his thoughtful exploration of ideas. I look forward to council discussions with Todd representing District 3. I hope residents will join me in voting for him.
