Keating, Thomas J. 'Tom'
Thomas J. “Tom“ Keating, 60, of Wyoming, Iowa, formerly of Center Junction, died Feb. 9, 2011, at home. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Temple Hill, rural Cascade. A private burial will be at a later time. Arrangements by Iowa Cremation.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Shirley (Breitbach) Keating; children, B.J. (April) of Fort Benning, Ga., and Patrick (Becky) of Olin; brothers, Steve (Don Sutton) of Dallas, Ben (Patty) of Maquoketa and Father Mike of Columbus, Neb.; sisters, Marlene (Dean) Schechinger of Papillion, Neb., and June Keating of West Des Moines; granddaughter, Brookelyn; and grandsons, Nathan and Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bob, of Tipton.
The son of Louis and Grace (Callaghan) Keating, Tom was born in Cascade, Iowa on Dec. 16, 1950. He graduated from Aquin High School in 1969. Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honored with a Purple Heart. He married Shirley (Breitbach) Keating on April 4, 1970. They were later divorced. Tom worked for the Jones County Road Department, retiring after 34 years.
Memorials in Tom's honor can be sent to Camp Courageous of Iowa in Monticello.
