Central City issues boil order for water

Central City has advised residents to boil their water before drinking it, following storms Wednesday night.
'Due to a lightning strike to the city water tower, the city of Central City has issued a precautionary citywide boil order effective immediately and lasting through noon on Friday, June 30, 2017, pending clear water samples,” the city said in a statement.
Thunderstorms spread across Iowa Wednesday, including in Linn County.
A tornado originated near Central City, about 25 miles northeast of Cedar Rapids, at around 6:50 p.m., Wednesday. It headed northeast toward Prairieburg, damaged buildings throughout the town and injured at least one person.
