Tucker, Robert D.
Robert D. Tucker, 86, longtime resident of Lincoln, Neb., died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, in North Liberty, Iowa, where he moved to in 2003.
Born Dec. 29, 1923, in York, Neb., to John A. and Zella M. (Henderson) Tucker, he was a graduate of York High School (1941) and Lincoln Business School, a retired painter with Lincoln Public Schools and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He married Dorothy A. Pickrel on Dec. 1, 1944. He was active in Boy Scouts as a scout and scoutmaster and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
Family members include wife, Dorothy; son, Robert D. Tucker, Ph.D., MD, an associate professor at the University of Iowa College of Medicine; one cat and one Weimaraner.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
A reception will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at York Senior Center guest room, 725 North Nebraska Ave., York, Neb., followed by 2 p.m. graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery.
