Saturday is your last look at the Iowa Hawkeyes before it gets real.
The “Kids at Kinnick” scrimmage/practice begins at noon with Kinnick Stadium gates opening at 11. It will last about two hours with players signing autographs after.
There are plenty of places to look.
Offensive line has some openings with starters Julian Vandervelde and Kyle Calloway sitting out the first week of camp. Wednesday's No. 1 group included center Rafael Eubanks, guards Dan Doering and Riley Reiff and tackles Dace Richardson and Bryan Bulaga. Friday's group included guard Andy Kuempel.

When: Noon Saturday. Gates A, B and E open at 11 a.m.
What: Two-hour practice followed by 30-minute autograph session
Left cornerback is another place that will get a close look Saturday.
For game one, two spots are open. Vandervelde, a junior guard, won't return until week two while he rehabs a from a spring surgery. Calloway is suspended for the Sept. 5 opener against UNI after a summer OWI arrest. Center is unsettled with Eubanks, Josh Koeppel and James Ferentz in competition. Richardson is attempting a comeback after missing two years and going through knee realignment surgery.
Junior Jordan Bernstine went into camp as No. 1 but suffered a season-ending ankle injury Thursday. The position falls to sophomores Shaun Prater and Willie Lowe and freshmen Greg Castillo and Micah Hyde.
Suspension also will affect this race. Prater faces a two-game suspension because of a February OWI arrest.
Backup quarterback is up for grabs between red-shirt freshmen James Vandenberg and John Weinke. This also is the first look at sophomore running back Jewel Hampton, who injured a knee in early July but has shaken it off.
