UPDATE: A Lisbon woman was flown to University Hospitals this morning after a head-on crash involving a car and a semi-trailer truck early this morning on Interstate 380.
Around 2:45 a.m., the Iowa State Patrol put out an attempt to locate on a red vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lane on I-380 near mile marker 11, near the Swisher exit.
Minutes later, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office said patrol offiers came across a head-on crash at mile marker 9 involving the red car and a semi.
Deputies said the red car was driving the wrong way in the northbound lane when the driver hit the truck.
The driver of the car, Anna Marie Miller, 46, of Lisbon, was airlifted to University of Iowa Emergency Trauma Center. The extent of her injuries have not been reported, deputies said.
The semi driver, Thomas N. Kyle, was not injured.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the crash to determine if charges will be filed. Deputies said a blood sample was taken to determine if the driver was under the influence.
The Johnson County HazMat team was also called to the area for a large amount of diesel fuel spilled at the crash scene. The Sheriff's Office was also assisted on the scene by the Swisher Fire Department, North Liberty Police, Cedar Rapids Area Ambulance, and the Iowa DOT motor vehicle enforcement.
