VELMA MCNEILL
Monticello
Velma Ruth McNeill, 83, formerly of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospice, Cedar Rapids, surrounded by family.
She was born March 14, 1933, to Carl Sr. and Etta Starr. On July 14, 1956, she married Richard McNeill in Edgewood. They lived in Iowa, Texas and Illinois before settling in Monticello. Velma worked for several years at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab before retiring to take care of Richard.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, traveling and animals.
Survivors include Carol (Steve) Saunders and Tina (Thaddeous) Edwards; grandsons, Steve Jr. (Cathy) and Christopher; great-granddaughters, Rachel, Larissa, Addison and December; and sister, Donna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; infant son, Stephen; and several brothers and sisters.
Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Boy Scout Lodge, Wapsipinicon State Park, Anamosa. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa, with fellowship and lunch following. Inurnment will be at a later date.
