To the editor:
As Americans we are sick of the corruption in Washington, D.C. Prejudices against a Christian nation, us versus them, hate speech and denying the basic rights of citizens. We cannot sit down and be quiet.
Ted Cruz as the solicitor general, litigated on the Supreme Court to keep the words, 'One Nation Under God” in our Pledge of Allegiance. The pledge is a powerful patriotic acknowledgment of religion by our government. Cruz defended the fact that the voluntary reciting of the Pledge of Alliance didn't violate the U.S. Constitution. Cruz made reference to the many examples of God's reference from within our own government's documents (among other points) and won.
A strong, moral character defined by his faith helped keep, 'One Nation Under God” in the Pledge of Alliances. How many even knew that this was being challenged? If it had been taken out, we would only have had heard about it after the fact with little ability to change it back. A generation would have passed and few would even be able to recall. In my opinion, this removal would have been the first of many lost hits to come. It would have set precedent allowing for the removal of more sacred ground. For this reason and several others, plan to attend the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 1 and cast your vote for Cruz.
