Tomlin, Shirley M.
Shirley M. Tomlin, 72, of 5811 Golden Ct. NE, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital after a sudden illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Caskey of Williamsburg; one brother, Richard Masek Sr. of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Alberta Bushnell of Norwalk, Calif., and Barbara (Larry) Dudley of Shell Knob, Mo. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ben, Jeff and Brian Caskey; two great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Tom Birr of Cedar Rapids; her good friend, Barbara Williams of Cedar Rapids; and her two dogs, Kaci and Kori.
She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Moser; a brother, Edward Masek; a sister, Joan Birr; and a son-in-law, Larry Caskey.
Shirley was born Aug. 23, 1939, in Neola, the daughter of Albert and Bertha Dalhquist Masek. She married Bart Tomlin; they were later divorced. Shirley traveled all over the world as a purchasing agent for Walmart and retired from there after many years of service.
Shirley was a member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading and long walks. Shirley was a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established.
