Sattler, Merle F.
Merle F. Sattler, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 2:30 p.m. Friday, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky with military honors presented by the American Legion Post 727. Inurnment: St. John Cemetery. Friends may visit after 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Merle is survived by nephews, Al Sattler, Bob (Kathy) Arnes of Cedar Rapids and Bill (Katie) Winn of Balsam Lake, Wis.; a niece, Shirley (Norm) Hopkins of Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
Merle was born Jan. 9, 1925, in Fort Atkinson, the son of Joseph and Anna Moser Sattler. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired in 1990 from Quaker Oats.
Merle enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews at Al's house on holidays, birthdays and many other special occasions. He also enjoyed reading, cooking and watching sports.
