Husman, Elnora Mae
Elnora Mae Husman, 76, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, in Kansas City, Mo. Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Phil Jorgensen will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Goettsch Funeral Home in Monticello. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello.
Surviving are her two sons, Stephen (Karyn) Husman of Tucson, Ariz., and Jerald (Teresa) Husman of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Susan (Curt) Paulsen of Scotch Grove; a brother, LaVern (Vera) Schoon of Monticello; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Kristina, Justin, Corrinne and Aaron; and two great-grandchildren, Claire and Anna.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Herbert C. Husman on Dec. 31, 2002.
Elnora Mae Schoon was born April 22, 1934, in Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Matilda (Kray) Schoon. She was a 1952 graduate of Monticello High School. On Sept. 21, 1952, Elnora and Herbert Husman were united in marriage at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Monticello. Elnora worked as a medical secretary at St. Luke's Hospital for more than 15 years. She taught piano in Wyoming, Iowa, was an organist at St. Matthew's Church in Monticello, Zion Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Iowa, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Hook, N.Y., Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, and St. Luke's Hospital Sunday Chapel Services for several years. She was a member of the Belle Tones Woman's Choir, Voyager Handbell Choir of Tucson, Ariz., Our Savior's Lutheran Church Handbell Choir, the Voyager Swimming Club, Lasso-E Camper Club, and Marion YMCA Swim Aerobics. She was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital for a number of years after her retirement.
For the past 15 years, Elnora spent her winters in Arizona. Elnora enjoyed playing cards, taking traveling tours overseas and in the states, and traveling with Herbert in their RV.
Elnora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
She will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's Foundation, Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Cedar Rapids, or donors' choice.
