Gorsh, Janelle L.
Janelle L. Gorsh, 76, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died Feb. 27, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Heather) Gorsh of Brandon, and Linda Gorsh, Jodi Cranston and Kim Haines, all of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Ross (Sandy) Naughton of Marion; great-grandson, Brady Naughton; a brother, Kirk (Pat) Johnson of Buckeye, Ariz.; and a nephew and niece, Brent and Jenny.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene Gorsh; and two sons, Scott Lewis Gorsh and Ronald Gorsh.
Janelle L. Gorsh was born Oct. 14, 1936, in Belmond, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Jean (Hake) Johnson. She was united in marriage to Eugene Gorsh on Jan. 3, 1956, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death in 2011. Janelle and Eugene started their own business, Gorsh Service Mechanical. Janelle and Gene, through their business, sponsored many sports teams and race cars. Janelle enjoyed taking trips to the casino, traveling and time spent with her family.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of St. Luke's Hospital, especially the Critical Cardiac Unit, and St. Luke's Hospice.
The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to St. Luke's Hospice.
