Loeffers Sr., Willliam 'Bill' Lee
William “Bill” Lee Loeffers Sr., 85, of Marion, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. The family will greet friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion. Private family inurnment: Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, will take place before visitation.
Survivors include his son, William “Bill” Lee (Peggy) Loeffers Jr. of Cedar Rapids; his daughter, Paulette Loeffers of Marion; three grandchildren, William Grant Loeffers, Jean (Kevin) Van Dee and Jennifer (fiancé Adam) Loeffers; two great-grandchildren, Arianna and Kyli; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Sarah, Justin and Jesse. Other survivors include two sisters, Helen (Fred) and Betty; cousin, Betty (Lloyd) Lyons; and many nieces and nephews, including Bill (Millie) Sanders, Tom (Linda) Sanders and Peggy Pavek.
Bill Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; mother-in-law, Alma Tuttle; granddaughter, Joan; three sisters and one brother.
Bill Sr. was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Burlington, Iowa. He served in the Navy during World War II. Bill married Florence M. Tuttle on Feb. 4, 1945, and they raised their children in Vinton. They moved to Marion in 1974. Bill was retired from Russell's Guide & Printing Co.
The family wishes to thank Mercy Dialysis Unit, St. Luke's Hospital Five Center staff, and St. Luke's Palliative Care team for their care and concern.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Palliative Care in Bill's memory.
