Krob DVM, Dr. John Francis

Dr. John Francis Krob, DVM, 83, of Tipton, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 3, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, with Father Ed Dunn and Father David Hitch officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

John was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Milo Joseph and Mayme Elizabeth Murphy Krob. He served his country in the United States Air Force and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. On Aug. 21, 1951, John was united in marriage to Carolyn Jean Rourke in Oxford, Iowa. He practiced veterinary medicine at the Tipton Veterinary Clinic for 38 years.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton Lions, IVMA, Moose Lodge, Tipton Golf & Country Club, past president of IVMA District 21 and a member of Delta Tau Delta.

John is loved and survived by his wife, Carolyn Krob of Tipton; daughters, Cherrie (Robert) Schmidt of Clarence, Mollie (Kevin) Fisher of Mechanicsville and Jonie (Philip) Hook of Vermillion, S.D.; sons, Maury (Jan) Krob, Larry Krob, Douglas (Teresa) Krob, all of Tipton; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Marilyn (Morrie) Pitlick of Oxford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Gene Krob.

A memorial fund has been established in memory of John.
