Armstrong, Bernita 'Bea' May
Bernita “Bea” May Armstrong, 90, of Tipton, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery, Tipton. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com

Bernita “Bea” May Vitense Armstrong was born May 2, 1920, in Center Township, Cedar County, Iowa. She was the daughter of William and Martha Butterbrodt Vitense. She was a 1938 graduate of Tipton High School and a graduate of Tipton Junior College. Bea was united in marriage to Donald Charles Armstrong in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Dec. 7, 1940. She was employed as a schoolteacher. Bea was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M.W., Athenaeum, Federated Women's Club, Child Conservation and was a 4-H Leader.
Bea is survived by her daughter, Diane (Glen) Eaton of Tipton; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; and sister, Marjorie.
