Jedlicka, Twyla Nadine
Twyla Nadine Jedlicka, 77, of Tipton, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will follow in Woodbridge Cemetery, Tipton.
She is loved and survived by her daughters, Debbie (Clifford) Taylor of Mechanicsville, Dixie (Dennis) Pelzer of Tipton, Becky Gilbert of Bettendorf, Peggy (Bruce) Flockhart of Mechanicsville and Nancy (Chris) Pruess of Tipton; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Gerald “Jerry” (Diane) Parsons of Ames.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Cora; husband, Kenneth; grandson, Spc. David Behrle; and granddaughter, Jennifer Flockhart.
Twyla was born Dec. 4, 1934, in Johnson County, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Cora Sass Parsons. She attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Tipton High School with the class of 1952. Twyla was united in marriage to Kenneth (Kenny J.) W. Jedlicka on June 25, 1955, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton.
Twyla was a partner with her husband in their farming operation. She spent many hours raising her sheep and never turned away an animal in need of a home. She enjoyed gardening, painting, collecting antiques and Isabel Blooms.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed attending her family's activities. She was an excellent cook and baker and will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies and chocolate pie.
Twyla worked for the Sycamore Learning Center and later provided in-home day care.
