Betty Louise Jedlicka, 89, of Tipton, went to her final resting place on Oct. 18, 2016. Funeral Mass services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton, officiated by Father Richard Okumu and Monsignor Francis Henricksen. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Tipton. Friends and family may call Thursday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, with a public rosary starting at 4:30 p.m. Memorials in Betty's honor may be directed to Cedar Manor Tipton and Iowa City Hospice. Betty Lou was born in rural Jones County, Iowa, on July 6, 1927, to Wilmer and Beulah (Stahl) Larson. She attended and graduated from Martelle High School with the class of 1945. Betty Lou was united in marriage to Richard Jedlicka in Lisbon, Iowa, on Sept. 23, 1947. They moved to Tipton shortly after, where they raised their family of five children, Mary Lou, Gary, Dean, Dale and the late Robert, and have since resided.
Betty Lou was a farm wife, mother and a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling, knitting and baking, especially pies. Spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids was her utmost joy. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Guild.
Surviving Betty Lou are her husband; children, Mary Lou (Gary Mullen) Lange of Tipton, Gary (Pamela Tedrow) Jedlicka of Tipton, Dean (Sara) Jedlicka of Iowa City and Dale (Marcie) Jedlicka of Tipton; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Delores Larson and Edith Lyons.
Betty Lou was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert; sisters, Maxine Preston and Doris Brickley; and brothers, LaVern and Lawrence.
