Rupe, Harvey
Harvey Rupe, 91, of Tipton, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Tipton Masonic Cemetery, with military rites by the Tipton VFW and Tipton American Legion. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday before the service at Fry Funeral Home.
Harvey was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Alta Vista, Iowa, and was the son of Daniel and Bertha Kaiser Rupe. He was united in marriage to Esther Violet Small Anderson on June 16, 1963, in Tipton. Harvey worked in the grain elevator department for Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for 37 years. He was a member of First United Church of Christ in Tipton and proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy.
Harvey is survived by two stepdaughters, Joyce (Eugene) Morrow and Jan (Scott) Kramer, both of Tipton; and sisters-in-law, Dutch Rupe of Tipton and Helen Rupe of Swisher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; his son, Donald; brothers, Raymond, Bill and Elmer; and his sister, Irene Keller.
