MARIAN (SHOEMAKER) NIXON

Marian Nixon, 71, passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 31, at Crestwood Baptist Church, 3717 Forest Ave., Des Moines. Visitation will be one hour before the service. A private family burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park in Cedar Rapids at a later date.
Marian was born July
7, 1944, in Independence, Iowa, to Frank and Flo Shoemaker. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and went on to attend nursing school. Marian was an active member of Crestwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafts, playing cards, talking to people and rarely did she pass an ice cream shop without stopping. She was faced with lots of adversity but lived her life the best she knew how.
Marian is survived by her son, Ed (Noreen); and stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; mother, Flo Shoemaker; three brothers, Bill (Linda), Mike (Martha) and Dick (Sandy); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father.
