Lenane, Patrick Hugh
Patrick Hugh Lenane, 81, of Dyersville, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 7 p. m. Visitation also will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, at St. John Catholic Church in Delhi. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Church, Delhi, with burial in St. John Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. John Kremer.
Pat was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., the son of Hugh and Roma (Bever) Lenane. He was educated by the Jesuits of the University of Detroit, with a BA degree in foreign studies. He married Mimi Marie Singelyn on Aug. 8, 1953, in Detroit, Mich. Together they moved around the Midwest while raising their family. Finally in 1970, they planted roots in Dyersville.
He was a proud Irish Catholic and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 12695. He was very active in the planning of the new St. John Catholic Church in Delhi.
Survivors include his eight children, Hugh (Dianne) of Asbury, Molly (Joe) Burger of Dubuque, Brian of Delhi, Kevin (Karen) of Iowa City, Adele Lenane of Dubuque, Terry (Julia “Gail”) of Luxemburg, Frank (Chris) of North Liberty and Dr. Pat (Colleen) Lenane of Fort Dodge; 15 grandchildren, Shane (fiancee Ali Lavasseur) and Patrick Lenane, Jude (Erica) Burger and Sally (John) Elstad, Lindsay (Christopher) Adolphs, Austin (Carolyn) and Courtney Lenane, Jennifer, Alicia and Megan Lenane, Alex, Ivy and Max Lenane, Nickolas and Andrew Lenane; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings. Denis Lenane of Bloomfield, Mich., Thomas (Shirley) Lenane of Gross Pointe Woods, Mich., and Kathleen (Mike) Doonan of Bloomfield, Mich.; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Robert (Mildred) Singelyn of Whitehall, Mich., Daniel (Ann) Singelyn of Nashville, Tenn., Paul (Nancy) Singelyn of Naperville, Ill., and Linda Singelyn of Connecticut; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mimi in 2011; an infant daughter, Celia; an infant grandson, Michael Lenane; two brothers, David and Michael Lenane; a brother-in-law, James Singelyn; and a sister-in-law, Susan Lenane.
Memorials are preferred to the Ellen Kennedy Living Center, Knights of Columbus Council 12695, or Hospice of Dubuque.
