Susan "Sue" Janice (Hirschfeld) Meek, 73, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018, in Cape Coral, Fla., with her family at her side.

Sue was born to the late Alfred and Winifred Hirschfeld in Milwaukee, Wis., on Nov. 25, 1944. When Sue was 13 years old, she moved with her family to Cedar Rapids. On Sept. 10, 1966, she married the love of her life, Don Meek. On Aug. 14, 1968, Sue and Don were blessed with a daughter, Kathy. While in Cedar Rapids, Sue enjoyed running her Diet Center franchises, and in the mid-1990s Sue was awarded the Distinguished Operations Award by Diet Center Corporate for the best owner-managed Diet Center within a region of 140 centers. Sue moved to Cape Coral with her husband Don in 2005. They became members of Faith Presbyterian Church of Cape Coral. Our beloved Sue enjoyed her days with her husband Don in Cape Coral, going out on their boat, enjoying cocktails out on their lanai, laughing together, taking care of their two Shih Tzus, Max and Mandy, and her daily phone calls with her daughter, Kathy.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Al and Winnie Hirschfeld.

Sue is survived by her husband, Donald "Don" Meek of Cape Coral; her daughter, Kathryn "Kathy" Sue (Peter) Marquis of Atlanta, Ga.; grandson, Jack Marquis; and brothers, Robert Hirschfeld (Maggie) of Cedar Rapids and Donald Hirschfeld (Debra) of Dallas, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. May 12 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 4544 Coronado Parkway, Cape Coral, FL 33904. A reception will follow.
